Each ABWA member has the opportunity to recognize a key individual who has support this chapter, women in business, and local charities. This person may be your coworker, friend, employer or a fellow business associate. 

Congratulations to King Vaughn of Albertson's, the ABWA 2006 Business Associate of the Year Award.

King Vaughn for was nominated for the Business Associate of the Year because of his unconditional support of ABWA and the local community. He supports and donates so much to ABWA each year when we approach him to support our Boat Poker Run, and he also supports countless other non-profit organizations in Okaloosa County. Albertson’s allows fundraisers in their store by letting volunteers bag groceries for tips 
among other things.

In addition to non-profits, he also supports our schools at a time when that support is vital.

King Vaughn was born and raised in Garland Texas, where he started his 34 year career with Albertsons. He then transferred to Clearwater Florida, where he met his wife Cheryl. The Vaughn’s have lived in the local area for the last 22 years. King has managed the Albertsons store in Fort Walton Beach for the last seven years and has been voted one of the Top 20 Managers in the World for “Superior Community Service” by the Food Marketing Institute for the past two years. He was also recognized by the Florida Retail Federation as one of the Outstanding Retail Leaders in the state. King currently serves on the board for the Mental Health Association of both Okaloosa and Walton counties, the Fort Walton Beach Rotary Club, where he was voted Rotarian of the year in 2005. Also, he serves on the Board of the Youth Village and is a member of the all Sports Association. King is also extensively involved with the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Krewe of Bowlegs. King served as the Grand Marshall for the 2004 Choctaw Indians Homecoming Ceremonies. In addition to all of these community activities and charitable organizations, he continually supports local students and
organizations with fundraisers. 

King's great commitment and continued support to the local community does not stop at just local organizations, he has also helped many individual families in the community with hurricane relief over the past few years. Mr. Vaughn has three children, four grandchildren, and four children of the four-legged variety.
