The Prime Time "BEEN THERE, DONE THAT" Chapter was chartered
November 11, 1998, during the Fort Walton Beach Charter Chapter's monthly meeting.

We were recently featured in the
National ABWA Magazine, Women In Business,
when they had a series of articles on Retirement Chapters.

But, don't let that name fool you! The goal of this organization is to offer special programs tailor-made to meet the needs of retired business women.

This Chapter was in the talking stages for quite awhile and finally came to fruition when Liz O'Shea, Gloria Walker, and Alice Hook had a few meetings and got the ball rolling. It has snowballed ever since.  Since this publication, Alice Hook has passed away and Liz O'Shea has moved to Mobile.

We try to have a program every other month. In December of 2006 we decided to collect food for Sharing/Caring and had so much contributed that Gloria and Bill Walker had to put everything in boxes to get it there. Great contribution to our community for such a small group. Some of the places we met at recently were: Red Lobster, Bellissimo's, Scully's, Perry's in Niceville, Gloria Walker's home, La Rumba, Niceville, Mickey Stovall's home and Janet Guzalak's home. This is just a sampling of some of the recent speakers we've had: Pat Tinney (Creative Tours), Dr Dorethea Jones, DVM, who calls herself Dr Meow (specializes in cats) and who is a self-described glass addict who loves beads and glass jewelry. Belinda from Staff of Life Health Food Store, Patricia Franklin (Emerald Coast Children's Advocacy Center), Kathleen McMichaels from Laurel Hill - very comic story on colonoscopy; Karen Franklin (Eglin Federal Credit Union) - on Theft Identity.

We have a luncheon/meeting the third Wednesday of the month at different locations at 12:30 pm. It is recommended we continue to be involved in a community project and also to continue the education of retirees for self-improvement.

We are small in numbers, but continue to support our community. Just a few of the contributions we have made in recent months:

  • $350 donation to a local ABWA chapter founder who is now unable to walk;
  • Participation in the Alzheimier's Walk plus $75 donation;
  • Donated $180 to a local Alzheimer's Support Group
  • Donated $150 to American Cancer Society Relay for Life

  So you see, "Been There, Done That" certainly doesn't mean don't do it again for our members.

It's a fun Chapter and we'd be happy to have you join us.
